About us — About the logo

The logo was designed by StartWorks, a graphic design company in Albury NSW.

The Aboriginal art component was designed by a Deniliquin Indigenous artist, Alan Cochrane. It is taken from his art piece "River-life", which illustrates some of the aquatic species on the Edward River or as the Wamba Wamba and Barapa Barapa people call it, "Kuletch".

The mussel was selected because it is a creature that is often overlooked in the rivers, despite it being an important indicator of the health of the river. The mussel also has holds special cultural meaning for many Indigenous Nations – as Aunty Mary Pappin of the Mutti Mutti stated:

"Everyone gets excited when they come across an old midden site and the one thing people always find in middens is mussel shells. It was always an important food source for our people".
