MLDRIN -engo agreement [400kb PDF]

The MoU means MLDRIN now has a pathway into full participation in Natural Resource Management and provides secure resourcing for the Confederation for the next 3 years.
Copies of the MoU can be downloaded on the publications page.

Under the MoU Agreement MLDRIN has negotiated resources for the Confederation which includes the employment of the MLDRIN Coordinator, Capacity Building, Publications and Communications.
These resources enable MLDRIN to be more effective and assist more Indigenous Nations in their Governance and information dissemination.
As part of the first step decision of The Living Murray Initiative the Murray Darling Basin Commission and traditional owners collaborated to articulate the needs and aspirations of the Nations.
MLDRIN was major driver of this process and worked with the Farley Consultancy Group in establishing a proper process for gauging Indigenous interests in the Murray River Basin.
MLDRIN was key member of the steering committee and assisted in the organising of public forums. The result is a landmark document that through the Community Engagement Process articulated core aspirations of the traditional owners, in particular the recognition of the inherent rights of traditional owners and the need to respect and care for Country.
The document is one of a few coordinated responses to The Living Murray and informs the ongoing work of MLDRIN, the Nations and other agencies and organisations.
